Parade Sportive Photos - Issued 1943 through 1948

I stumbled across Parade Sportive photos quite accidentally while cruising Ebay for some vintage Montreal Canadiens items to add to my collection. These photos caught my attention and before I knew it I wound up bidding on a collection of seventeen of these beauties. I have added a couple here and there and have just recently decided to make an attempt to acquire a complete run of the ice hockey photos. The Parade Sportive issues encompassed other sports besides hockey, so perhaps when I am close to finishing this run I will make a decision on how worthwhile it will be to continue searching for the non-hockey issues.

The 2006 Beckett Hockey Card Price Guide and Alphabetical Checklist gives a good description of the photos and a brief history. To summate, the photos were handed out by Montreal radio stations in the mid-1940s to promote an interview series. The photos measure roughly 5" by 8 1/4" and are black and white with a white border. The photos are of relatively poor quality, even for the era, and the photos are constructed of thin paper stock. Some players were issued more than one photo and there are four Montreal Canadiens team photos. Additionally, there are some multi-player photos with the most valuable photo, according to Beckett, being the Maurice Richard - Elmer Lach - Toe Blake issue at $75 (and one of the ones I was lucky enough to acquire).

There also appears to be at least one "red" issue of Johnny Gagnon that is of a larger size than the rest of the photos. I acquired this photo from an antiques dealer in Montreal via Ebay and I have yet to see another Parade Sportive issue similar in nature. Any information regarding this that can be passed along to me would be greatly appreciated.
